Â鶹ӳ» is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

We plan to fix the following problems by 30 December 2021.

Most images don't have appropriate text alternatives. This fails success criterion 1.1.1

Many diagrams rely on visual perception of shape and colour to understand. This fails success criterion 1.3.3 sensory characteristics.

Maps only use colour to identify certain visual elements. This fails success criterion 1.4.1 use of colour.

The boxes on the homepage use images of text, rather than text. This fails success criterion 1.4.5 images of text.

Disproportionate burden

Due to the nature of the virtual tour it would place a disproportionate burden on us to make this accessible at this time. We will review this in our next accessibility audit in February 2022.

The virtual tour is not accessible and fails the criteria of the WCAG 2.1.

The main issues are that

  • there are no text alternatives for the visual content
  • there is automatically playing video
  • it cannot be accessed with a screen reader or other assistive technologies
  • it cannot be accessed without a mouse
  • it cannot be accessed by keyboard.

Much of the content of the virtual tour is on edinburgh.gov.uk/georgestreet in an accessible format. Contact georgestreetdesign@edinburgh.gov.uk with queries
