Room hire in libraries

Hire a room at Central Library or a community library

You can hire rooms at Central Library and at many of our community libraries.

For community libraries, check with your library about availability and submit a room booking form.

Charges

Charges for Central Library and pricing category B community libraries - Drumbrae, McDonald Road and Stockbridge

  • community rate - first hour - £28.50
  • community rate - subsequent hours - £16.00
  • community rate - full day – £115.50
     
  • non-community / commercial - first hour - £79.00
  • non-community / commercial - subsequent hours - £47.50
  • non-community / commercial - full day - £367.50.

  • community rate – first hour - £21.00
  • community rate - subsequent hours - £12.50
  • community rate – full day – £94.50
     
  • non-community / commercial – first hour - £73.50
  • non-community / commercial – subsequent hours - £30.50
  • non-community / commercial - full day - £262.50.

Central Library room hire

Central Library has three rooms for hire. Read the specifics below.

Opening hours

You can use the rooms during Central Library opening hours:

  • Monday to Wednesday 10am to 8pm
  • Thursday to Saturday 10am to 5pm.

Be prepared to vacate the room 30 minutes before closing time.

Facilities

There is wifi in all of the meeting rooms. You access this with your library membership card.

We can provide flipcharts in any meeting room.

There are screens in the

  • Boardroom, a plasma display screen with VGA and HDMI connections
  • George Washington Browne Room, a projector with VGA connection and screen.

To use other connections, such as for Apple devices, you must bring your own adapter.

Please bring your own laptop.

There is a sound system in the George Washington Browne Room.

Accessibility

Our rooms are not accessible to wheelchair users.

There is a hearing loop in the George Washington Browne Room.

Room details

Meeting room

Can seat 8 people. The nearest toilet is downstairs in the Children’s Library.

The Board Room

Can seat 12 people around a table and is ideal for formal meetings and presentations. There is a toilet beside the room.

A bright boardroom with panelled walls and a long desk with four chairs on either side and one at either end. There is a tea station at one wall with an urn and several cups and saucers. At the far wall there is a large plasma on a stand with a laptop stand below.

George Washington Browne Room

Can hold up to 20 people.

The room is on the Mezzanine floor, which you can get to via the lift. The nearest toilet is on the ground floor.George Washington Browne room with large meeting table and green chairs in centre of the room.

 

Music Room

The Music Library has a digital piano available for use. We have a Music room with a digital piano and drum kit.

Pod

This is a small room on the mezzanine which is suitable for one person to make video calls or participate in a video interview. It can also be used for two people to study or hold a one to one meeting.
