Elm Row

Works to install drainage and for public realm improvements on Elm Row began Summer 2021. See estimated timelines of when work will be finished in this area. 

Footway improvements are underway on Elm Row. The London Road pillar clock was reinstated on 16 August 2022 following a full restoration. Read more about its return and the restoration process in an interview with specialist clockmakers Smith of Derby.

Hard landscaping works at  Elm Row are ongoing. Drainage and hard landscaping works are ongoing at Montgomery Street. Once completed, the heras fencing will be removed.  The eight bronze pigeons are also set to return to Elm Row in 2023.

Please note that from Monday 24 April 2023 there will be changes to the pedestrian arrangements on Elm Row in order to progress works. Access to properties will be maintained.

Logistic Hubs

The Logistics Hub on Montgomery Street will be operational to help with deliveries and dispatches. 

Traffic Management

All parking and loading on Elm Row will be suspended. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times during these works, including access to businesses. The project will assess the traffic management arrangements throughout the construction period and make amends where required. Montgomery Street is closed at its junction with Leith Walk.
