Access protection markings

An Access Protection Marking (APM) is an advisory, non-enforceable road marking. APMs are marked out with white lines and are used to identify a vehicle access and make motorists aware that access is required all day.

Apply

You can only apply for an APM online. You will need to create an online account, login and apply.

Price

The price to install a new APM or to refresh an existing marking is £170.

What you will need

You can only apply for an APM if you have a dropped kerb to either a garage, driveway or off-street parking.

We will carry out an inspection of the site after you have submitted your application. Only applications meeting the APM permit terms and conditions will be approved.

Blue badge holders

If you have a valid blue badge, you can apply for a new or the refresh of an existing APM free of charge. You will still need to apply for this online.

Blue badge holders will need to upload a copy of both the front and back sides of their blue badge.

Applications without a copy of the blue badge will not progress until a copy has been uploaded.

Application process

As part of the process, a duration box must be ticked to allow your application to be submitted. Blue badge holders must also check the duration box, the blue badge discount will be applied in the final price box. The duration is automatically set to four weeks but completion of the work will vary depending on when payment is received (if applicable) and on contractor availability.

After you submit your application, you will receive an email confirming we have received it and we will arrange a site visit. If approved, we will contact you again requesting payment. On receipt of your payment, arrangements will be made to install or refresh your APM.
