Edinburgh 900 - a聽letter to Edinburgh
In 2024, Edinburgh is celebrating its 900th anniversary of becoming a Royal Burgh. So for one year only, our Green Pencil writing competition for children and young people in P4 to P7 and S1 to S3, is Edinburgh themed.
To celebrate, we are challenging you to write a letter about your relationship with Edinburgh. It could be a letter about
- your favourite thing about living in Edinburgh
- what Edinburgh means to you
- all the sights, landmarks or nature that make up Edinburgh.
It’s up to you, the writer, to enchant us with your letter to Edinburgh.
Entries can be poetry, prose or story, all we ask is that the writing is the author’s own work and is no longer than one side of A4 paper.
Competition dates
The competition starts on 15 October and the closing date is 15 December 2024.
