A 12-week programme started in August with improvements to the waste and recycling service for around 3,500 residential properties. The work will be done in phases as detailed below.

Phase A - Bin hub installations in Spylaw, Granton, Peffer, Oxgangs and Firrhill

26 bin hubs will be installed to improve the service for around 800 properties and thousands of residents.

In Colinton / Fairmilehead we will install 13 hubs as shown in these plans CBR Phase A  Autumn Works – South

In Forth ward we will install 8 hubs as shown in these plans CBR Phase A  Autumn Works – North

In Portobello / Craigmillar ward we will install 5 hubs as shown in these plans CBR Phase A  Autumn Works – East

Forresters - Service change from kerbside to communal (Drum Brae / Gyle)

These works will see nearly 500 properties currently on kerbside service move to communal bins. This involves the installation of 20 bin hubs as shown in these plans.

Due to recent feedback from residents in this area, along with potential upcoming industrial action, we will be pausing the works for these bin hubs until further consultation has been completed. We will be in contact with residents and relevant Councillors in due course.

Oxgangs Park - Service change from kerbside to communal (Colinton / Fairmilehead)

These works will see nearly 150 properties currently on kerbside service move to communal bins. This involves the installation of 7 large bin hubs which are shown in these plans.

The affected residents have been sent letters about these changes. Council staff were on site during this switchover to engage with residents.
